Asbestos, Radon & Lead Assessments

EWMA has extensive experience conducting asbestos, radon and lead assessments to determine the nature and quantity of asbestos, radon or lead present in a facility or structure. All asbestos, radon and lead assessments are conducted in accordance with federal and state requirements and regulations.

Asbestos

Asbestos can be present in many different types of building materials from floor tiles to walls to pipe insulation. EWMA has the expertise and experience to determine exactly which building materials are asbestos containing materials (ACM) and what concentrations of asbestos are present in a given building material. EWMA can recommend the proper asbestos abatement or operations and maintenance (O&M) plan.

Radon

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can seep into a building undetected. Radon is usually a problem that is confined to the basement or lower floors of a building. EWMA has the expertise and experience to sample for radon gas and determine if it is present in a building at levels above the regulatory guidelines and to recommend a cost-effective radon abatement system or operations and maintenance (O&M) plan.

Lead

Lead is an issue that is present in older housing stock and industrial facilities requiring financing that were painted with lead paint before it was banned by the federal government in 1978. While a declining problem, lead paint and/or lead pipes or soldering is still present in some older houses and still causes lead poisoning in children.

Lead can be found in the following locations in and around the home:

    * In paint within the home. Many older homes still have lead based paint.
    * In soil around a home. (Soil can pick up lead from exterior paint, or other sources such as past use of leaded gas in cars.)
    * Household dust. (Dust can pick up lead from deteriorating lead-based paint or from soil tracked into a home.)
    * Drinking water. Your home might have plumbing with lead or lead solder.

EWMA has the expertise and experience to test for lead in paint, soil, household dust, and drinking water. EWMA can determine the extent and concentration of lead in and around a home or any type of building or structure. EWMA can recommend the proper lead abatement or operations and maintenance (O&M) plan.
